LAS VEGAS- Over 150 experienced installers from 70 solar installation companies took part in BP Solar’s Certified Installer Training Program (CIP) on March 3-5, making them the first US installers to offer the highest quality and peace of mind to rooftop solar customers.
“It was wonderful to see the dedication and attention to detail of these newest certified installers,” said Mark Kerstens, BP Solar vice president of global sales and marketing. “They will set the standard for solar installation safety and quality, backed by the BP Solar service warranty.”

BP Solar was the first in the industry to offer a certified installer program globally, starting in Germany in 2004. Since then it has also been implemented successfully in Spain, Australia and now in the US in 2010.

Certified installers enjoy the benefits of access to BP Solar marketing materials, sales leads and an on-line estimating tool, as well as exposure on the BP Solar website, the credibility of the BP Solar Certified logo, and the right to offer the unique five-year BP Solar service warranty.
To qualify for the CIP, installers must already be properly licensed and insured, demonstrate industry experience and meet a standard level of training and proficiency. Certified installers receive training in BP Solar products, system design, safety and site management, hands-on installation, sales, and use of the BP Solar sales lead and price quote systems.
“I really got a lot out of the classes,” said Tim Nelson of Fire Mountain Solar in Mount Vernon, WA. “It’s nice to learn more, even after being in this industry for over 10 years.”

To preserve their certification, certified installers must also maintain solid business standing, obtain high customer ratings, maintain current licensing, and adhere to the Certified Installer Code of Ethics and the BP Solar Brand Contract. These requirements and training ensure that end customers who use BP Solar Certified Installers receive the highest quality installation and support services.

BP Solar’s newest Certified Installers are located in Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Washington. To enroll in the BP Solar CIP, installers must be sponsored by a participating BP Solar Authorized Distributor (Ameresco or Solar Depot).
